The State University of New York's Hudson County Community College issued the following news release:
Kenneth B. Colloton '74 of East Greenbush, a director and senior vice president of New York State Government Banking for Citizens Bank, has been appointed to the Hudson Valley Community College Board of Trustees.
A Hudson Valley alumnus, Colloton was appointed to the seven-year term by former Governor George E. Pataki. He replaces Lorraine O. Schindler, who has served on the 10-member board since 1997.
He has more than 30 years of experience in the banking industry, both locally and internationally, including residing in Brazil and Hong Kong. Prior to joining Citizens Bank, Colloton spent 18 years with Bank of America (formerly Fleet/Norstar), where he held a variety of positions, including district president for the Capital District and Hudson Valley, director of deposit management and director of government banking.
Colloton also is an active community volunteer, serving on the board and executive committee of the Center for Economic Growth; the finance and audit committees of Albany Medical Center and Albany Medical College; and the Hudson Valley Community College President's Advisory Council. He also volunteers with the YMCA on the local, national and international level: he is past chairman of the board of the Capital District YMCA, and is currently chair-elect of the YMCA-USA board and an executive committee member of the World Alliance of YMCA.
'An accomplished business leader and dedicated community volunteer, Ken Colloton brings a wealth of business and governance experience to the Board of Trustees,' said Dr. Robert H. Hill II, chairman of the board. 'We are fortunate that he has graciously agreed to serve his alma mater and share with us his insights and expertise.'
Several organizations have recognized Colloton for his commitment to the community; those honors include the Hudson Valley Community College Distinguished Alumnus Award; the Capital District YMCA President's Award; and the Multiple Sclerosis Community Leadership Award.
A graduate of Hudson Valley's Accounting program, Colloton also has two bachelor's degrees from York College of Pennsylvania and an advanced banking degree from the Bankers Administration Institute at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He and his wife, Annette, have two children.
Schindler, chief executive officer and principal broker of Lori Schindler Realty Company, has served on the Board of Trustees since 1997 and currently chairs the board's Nominating Committee and Audit and Finance Committee. She is past chair of the board's Personnel Committee, and she also served on the college's Presidential Search Advisory Committee.

'The college has been well served by her stewardship, and we truly appreciate her time, energy and dedication to Hudson Valley during the past nine years. She will be missed.'
The college's Board of Trustees has 10 members. Colloton is one of four appointed by the governor; five trustees are appointed by the Rensselaer County Legislature and the student body elects one representative. The student trustee serves a one-year term that coincides with the academic year; all other board members serve seven-year terms.
Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 70 degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences; and workforce and academic preparation programs offered through the Educational Opportunity Center.
