HUDSON VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE NAMES NEW ALUMNI ASSOCIATION CHAIRWOMAN - US Fed News Service, Including US State News

TROY, N.Y., April 7 -- Hudson Valley Community College issued the following news release:

Maxine Barasch of Albany, a 2001 graduate of Hudson Valley Community College, has been named the new chairwoman of the college's Alumni Association.

Barasch is the principal attorney for Maxine Barasch & Associates, PLLC. The firm provides legal counsel relating to patents, trademarks, copyrights, Internet law and more. She graduated from Hudson Valley Community College with an associate's degree in Individual Studies. In addition, Barasch earned a bachelor of science degree from the University at Albany and a juris doctorate from Albany Law School.

Hudson Valley Community College has more than 65,000 alumni. More than 80 percent of graduates entering the workforce stayed within the Capital Region. The college's Alumni Association provides graduates with a forum to stay connected to the college and offers opportunities for career development, networking, social events, mentoring, community involvement and philanthropy.

Barasch stated, 'My experience at Hudson Valley Community College was one of academic rigor, rich with extracurricular activities and friendships that will last a lifetime. It provided a solid foundation for my later education, and prepared me for my legal career today. I am honored to serve as the chairwoman of the Alumni Association and look forward to further developing our strong alumni community.'

Barasch is an active member of the New York State Bar Association and the Albany County Bar Association as well as area chambers of commerce. In 2007, she established and still manages the Capital Alliance of Young Professionals, Inc., an association for young professionals to develop both professionally and personally.
