Troy High School students visited the health sciences laboratories at Hudson Valley Community college as part of an effort to encourage interest in health-related careers.

The 15 juniors and seniors met with Hudson Valley faculty members and students to discuss educational and career opportunities in respiratory care, dental hygiene, biology and medical imaging and were given tours of the departments.

Mary Giles, dean of the College's health sciences program and a member the Capital Region School and Business Alliance, arranged the tour.

SABA's mission, she said, is to acquaint high school students with careers that can be pursued right after graduation from high school or from two-year degree programs. In its fifth year, SABA provides counseling, pre-employment training and job placement for at-risk students.
